Amaryllis Belladonna, aka Belladonna Lily, aka Naked Lady Lily. These things are supposed to come up annually in the fall when the weather starts getting cold, but I can’t remember them blooming the last couple of years. Usually the inconsistent Ca weather tricks these things. It gets a little cold and they sprout and then there’s another heat wave that fries them.

this guy kept messing with the lights my dad has in the tree in the backyard. It hung around for about an hour, even coming down out of the tree and wandering around the yard for a while. Also spotted a possum mom

I identified this thing a while back. It’s a carissa macrocarpa or natal plum shrub. In South Africa they call it the large num-num! I’ve never eaten one of the plums but supposedly they have a flavor similar to a cranberry

A weird thing about these orange roses is that when I smell them, it’s like a really satisfying floral mixed tropical fruit juice smell. But everybody else tells me they can’t smell anything? I’ve noticed that I can often smell stuff that other people can’t.

I planted some of the mini zinnia flowers directly in the ground mixed with some soil and then my dad planted some in this bowl (the little ones in the middle). He also planted nasturtiums around the outside. The ones I planted don’t seem to be growing as fast as these. This picture was taken 20 days after planting and they’re supposed to bloom in 36-60 days.
