Sorry to bother, but I haven’t downloaded my archive and am wondering what exactly you get once you unzip that monster file. What is in there and how do you view it?

It’s a zip file. You unzip it and you get a folder labeled “html”. This (I think) has an html file for each post that you’ve ever made. I was confused because I thought they were just links, but they’re actually self-contained html documents with the post info/picture/video/etc included. Then you get a “media” folder. This looks like it has every picture, video, and (probably) sound file you’ve posted (I wouldn’t know because I deleted all my audio files when tumblr cracked down on them). And there’s an .xml file for messages. Then theres a zipped file of posts which, when you unzip it, has an xml file of your posts. Theoretically you can upload that xml to blogging platforms but Blogger seems like the only viable one (because if I’m not mistaken, wordpress costs a monthly fee I’d rather not pay). And Blogger seems to have some kind of problem with the way the code in the XML file is written. Bluh

Bride of Re-Animator is really good. Third one not so much

moviesludge:

Thanks! I gotta watch that then. I think I saw part of it on tv once. Isn’t that the one with that zombie guy drinking milk out of the carton with half of his mouth hanging off his face?

I watched BRIDE last night and enjoyed it a lot. Very dense with classic horror love while being its own unique thing at the same time. Someone should make a whole movie about a dog with hands

5 great ridiculous eighties horror movies to check out?

THE CARRIER (1988) –
A man with an unknown disease inadvertently causes a societal collapse in a small closed off town. The deadly contamination spreads when he touches an object, and (though its
appearance doesn’t change) imbues it with the ability to melt others that touch the object. When a person touches the contaminated object,
their physical makeup seems to bond at the area of the contact and melts
from there, spreading until the person is completely gone.

THE BLACK MAGIC WITH BUDDHA (1983) – A man that wants to marry into a rich family steals a wish-granting piece of brain from an ancient sarcophagus. The wizard that accompanies him tells him to destroy the evil brain as soon as his wish is fulfilled, but he gets greedy and does not heed the warning.

DEAD MATE (aka GRAVEROBBERS) (1988) – A former prostitute working as a waitress has a man propose to her after speaking to him for less than a minute. She agrees to leave her job on the spot with him and is taken to a small town where she finds out he is a mortician. Everything in the town seems a little off and she has to figure out what’s going on. The early parts of this are kind of slow but it gets extremely strange very quickly and really ramps up at the end into total insanity

The Witch With Flying Head (1982) –
A Lady (princess?) is poisoned by a magician that wants to marry her. He
claims that he will remove the poison curse if she agrees to marry him, but she
refuses. The poison manifests as snakes inside her body, makes the
lady’s head separate from her body and fly around at night, gives the
flying head magic powers, and makes her grow long lower fangs in order
to bite people and drink their blood. She isn’t in control when it
happens, sort of like a wolfman thing. So the lady and her two maids try
to figure out a way to keep everyone safe from her curse and LOTS of
STUFF happens.

DEADLINE (1984) – A horror writer under pressure from his publisher has to come up with a story, but has lots of common life distractions and irritants. The stress builds until he has a psychotic break, and can’t differentiate between his horror writing and reality. He has a bunch of false start stories that are shown in the movie, so it works like a pseudo-anthology horror.

Is the fly 2 really that dark a movie. Meaning just lacking lighting. The gif and pix are pretty dark.

I doubt it was filmed too dark or anything. The source video I used was very dark though. When you make gifs and you need to brighten due to dark source material, as was the case with THE FLY II, sometimes it’s hard to be able to tell where to stop if you’re not comparing it to other sources. If you go too bright, the image gets chippy, even if you have hd video. So with this particular source, there’s a very small margin for a satisfactory image. I basically have to blast the brightness and then even out the chippy image by boosting up the contrast pretty high. Kinda screwed either way because then the colors and values get too intense. I was able to adjust the caps though, and they look a bit better now.
