Okay, after a really disappointing and stressful dream yesterday about assisting a bunch of angry people waiting in line at the airport, last night I had a dream that the red valerian plant outside my window was flourishing so hard that when I opened the window in my room, a big bunch of them poked in here. And then a horse appeared and started eating them. I liked seeing the horse there.

Abominable (2006)*

@painiac I did that one back in 2K11 but I have been considering re-doing some ones because the gif size increased like 4 times since I made some. GREAT recommendation
Anybody got any good recommendations for practical effects-heavy horror movies that are good that I could gif for horror month??? I asked last time and @jarons20 recommended NECRONOMICON which ended up being perfect.
thanks for the vivid dream about working in customer service at the airport, BRAIN
I just made a twitter post the other day (that I deleted) about getting over like 6 soul crushing things that happened to me between 2013-2016, and I noted how I’ve only recently started to feel like a person again. It’s probably just a coincidence, but I think it’s kind of funny how I’ve been accidentally writing the year as 2014 recently.
currently drowning in quality shit to listen to. in an effort to expand upon an earlier post chronicling the tunes i’ve been diggin on, here are some more recs from scha’boi
- Atavisma – The Chthonic Rituals: 100% pure beef from France. heavy as fuck debut by these relative newcomers. a new contender for my favorite of the year
- Embrace of Thorns – Scorn Aesthetics: this band has been under the radar since their inception, and they’ve yet to put out a stinker
- Burial Invocation – Abiogenesis: Dark Descent stay killin the game with Burial Invocation’s debut, featuring 5 super long tracks of varied and and riffy death metal from Turkey
- Moenen of Xezbeth – Ancienbt Spells of Darkness…: dirty black metal with slow, sludgy riffs that feel malignant and evil. i haven’t really been keeping up with black metal this year, but this one is a ripper
- Hooded Menace – Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed: the kings of modern Finnish death doom return with one of their strongest releases since Never Cross the Dead. with a new vocalist (who still sounds similar enough to the brains of the outfit, Lasse) there is new energy here albeit a slow, sombre, and mournful energy
- Cemetery Lust – Rotting in Piss: one of the scant few thrash bands that are worth a look, Cemetery Lust turns up the knob on the death metal side of their sound and release another quality LP. sixth track “I Am Trash” really speaks to me
- Drawn and Quartered – The One Who Lurks: the mighty Drawn and Quartered return 6 years removed from their last proper album to deliver a thick slab of death metal. they sound less like Immolation these days and have veered in Dead Congregation territory of doomy and atmospheric death metal. not my favorite of theirs, but definitely worth a few listens if you are unsure.
- Mylingar – Döda Drömmar: ugly chaos from Sweden. this is a throttling release, pure harsh brutality. definite poser repellent.
- Mortuous – Through Wilderness: the long awaited debut of these San Jose ham slappers overcomes the hype that came with their quality 2012 demo. don’t miss this one. keep an eye for their long sleeve shirt at your local show, the cool kids will be wearing them
- Inisans – Transition: one of the shortest proper LPs i’ve heard this year, and there is beauty in brevity. death metal from Sweden will never go out of style, and this guys carry the baton proudly. not your typical Swedish DM, which is a good thing.
i’m always leering at the store flowers in a box or can
