@junk-hed – as far as interesting horrors go, I find these to usually be concept driven things. Check out:

Pontypool – A zombie-like disease is transferred via language

They Look Like People – A man reunites with an old friend that suspects a “THEY-LIVE-esque” invasion is going on. But is his friend nuts or for real, and is the friend dangerous?

Coherence – A comet passes over a town at night, causing a power outage in a suburban neighborhood. Friends having a dinner party find that one house still has the lights on, they go to investigate and slowly uncover a confusing paranoid nightmare.

Right At Your Door – A dirty bomb goes off in a major city, causing a biological contaminant scare in a neighboring suburb. Martial law takes over and a man seals off his house to keep the germs out.

Pin – As kids, a brother and sister are taught about health by their doctor father’s anatomy dummy. Their father throws his voice to speak as the dummy, but when he dies and the dummy keeps talking, the sister wonders if her brother has a weird attachment to the dummy.

Resolution – A man’s best friend is a heavy drug addict, squatting in an empty house out in an isolated run down area. The man decides to force his friend to detox and get clean by handcuffing him to a pipe in the house and taking care of him. Things take a weird unsettling turn when the man has time to explore the area, finding strange old photos and films deposited in some house ruins nearby. As he tries to figure out the creepy mystery, trouble mounts with his friend’s drug contacts.
